There will be a social event on March 27, from 1-3:00 p.m. at the Fire Station in Vinton.Volunteers are needed for various activities.JOIN US TO FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION.For those interested but cannot attend, areas of assistance where you might fit include:Delivering flowers to those fighting illness, persons with a CDL that could drive the fire truck, help in fundraising events, participants for parades and various events.
Vinton Dialysis Service scheduled to end on April 10th in Vinton
Virginia Gay Hospital received the following letter in regards to the closing of the dialysis treatment center at VGH. This was not a VGH decision and options are being researched for a solution at this time. The hospital just received the following letter. Unless there is a miracle, dialysis patients will have to travel for their care to a facility in Cedar Rapids.

VGH is thankful for our community and support of LifeServe Blood Drives at VGH. When you donate blood you save lives!Virginia Gay and Vinton had a total of 24 Registered Donors and 24 Units collected. With these donations, up to 72 lives were saved or sustained.There were also 4 first time donors. ANOTHER GREAT DRIVE! THANK YOU SO MUCH!Next Blood Drive: May 25, 2021.

As Iowans mark the one-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic, COVID Recovery Iowa wants to remind Iowans help is still available. The program notes that a one year disaster anniversary can be both a milestone and a trigger for those adjusting to life during and after a disaster."This pandemic is different than other disasters like a flood or a tornado, but emotional reactions and responses are still the same.

Virginia Gay Hospital N&RVisitation Plan After months of being apart, CMS and the CDC have [upd]d the visitation guidelines for Long Term Care. Here is our plan to transition back toward normal while being cognizant that increasing visits increases the risk of passing COVID 19 infections to staff and residents: Visitation will be scheduled through our Activities Department.

Effective Monday, March 8, Iowa vaccine providers can officially begin vaccinating additional priority populations. Individuals 64 years of age and younger with medical conditions that are or may be an increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 are now eligible. Benton County Public Health is working through the following tiers [st] by Iowa Department of Public Health.

March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month
The Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC), in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Public Health and the National Council on Problem Gambling, dedicates March to helping people “have the conversation” about problem gambling. Approximately 2 million (1%) of U.S. adults are estimated to meet the criteria for Gambling Disorder and another 4-6 million (2-3%) would be considered problem gamblers; yet for many, gambling remains a hidden addiction.
